Is it normal to hate or dislike your parents?

I do not really get along well with my parents. My father favors my younger sister, and well my mother doesn't have a favorite, excludes me. I'm not bad, I'm a C-B average kid. What can I do to regain their respect and love?

The hating of the parents is a bit normal at your age, I know it seems odd but someday I assure you that you will want and value their opinions. But just not anytime soon.

You have their love, their parents and they love you no matter how much you might hate them at times. But, you can regain their respect the same way you would if a friend was mad at you; talk nice to them, apologize to them, and ease up on the attitude around them.

I think it is very normal for a child to dislike and/or hate their parents while they are growing up. After all it is the parents who are not letting them do some of the things that they want to do. Quite often children view this as their parents not knowing what the heck their talking about or treating them unfairly. As the kid ages though they sometimes find out that what the parents did for them when they were younger was for their own best interest. Best of luck to you.

yea its normal to dislike your parents if they did something to you your dad favors your younger sister dont feel bad my dad dose to but i look at it that is his baby girl and youngest girl every parents treat there child differently then others i see it done alot just hang in there and tell them how they feel but could it also be that your jealous of your younger sister i been there also. but just tell them how you feel and what ever you done to make them to lose there respect then make it better they love you no matter what you do or say some parents and children have a differently way of showing it and also dont show it often then they should. just help around the house like dishes, laundary, sweep, take the trash out you know those things every parents like there child to help around the house if your not doing that already. well good luck i hope that i answer your question if not sorry i tried.

Yes it's normal to go through those feelings You might misunderstand your parents feelings. It's hard to say. Sometimes parents do favor another kid. But that's rare. You most likely already have their love. But keep in mind when you are a teenager you usually have a hard time with your parents. It's normal. You are becoming an adult. It's tough growing up. To gain their respect is hard. You'll just have to try to earn it. Sometimes kids never gets a parent's respect. Sometimes no matter what you do you never will. Just be yourself. As you get older you'll mature more. One advantage you have over me is that I lost my parents at 16. You will get to be around them as an adult. I never got that chance. It will be a lot diff rent then. Just be patient with your parents.

Live your life respecting your parents even if you dont agree with them. They love you but may be disappointed in some decisions you may have made....Sadly, you cant buy new parents. There may be nothing you can do,...just LOVE AND RESPECT YOURSELF.

Work hard in school because you only really get one try at high school grades. Go to college..... Someday, once you are an adult,..look at your parents....they may not have changed or maybe they will have.

The most important person in your life is you. Make it your goal once you have children is to raise them in a way you always wished your parents would.

There is not a whole lot you can do about it unfortunately. I was in the same situation as a teen (except my dad was gone and my mom favored my younger brother). Even now we have our problems but it helps a lot after you get out on your own. Tough it out for the time being and do your best. There are those of us out here that will be rooting for you!

Congratulations! You're a normal child! You haven't lost their respect and love, you're just growing up and your parents might be having a bit of trouble relating to you. Ever consider sharing your life with them? You should also try doing things without being asked 40 times and study harder. C's and B's are not going to get you anywhere in life, trust me, I speak from experience.

Live your life, I had a mother that hated me because I looked like my dad and she really disliked him. Roll with it. favorites will come and go. Work hard at school and leave when you're able and don't look back. Good Luck. Been there done that!

Once a parent picks favorites, there is nothing you can do. It's not worth it. They wont change. Stay away from them. It's not worth the stress on your life. Go on with your life without them. I've dealt with this in my own life. It's normal. You are worth the best life has to give you and it's evident your parents arent giving it to you.

Have more love and respect for yourself, do your best. By all means love and respect your parents, you will look back someday and wish you'd made better decisions, if you don't make and follow through with them now!!

I wish you the best. You are the captain of your ship. Make the best of it!
