It depends. When you consider math or a hard science, it is the answer that is paramount (because the truth of the answer can be tested)

When things are more vague and nobody really knows what the true answer is, the only value to be found is in considering/respecting the question.

For starters: the question is the most important, because when you finally find the right words to formulate a good question, you can start thinking about an answer...

And it's possible you won't find one, but many, or even none...

The most interesting thing is, when you ask this question to different people: everyone could give another answer - even some answers that wouldn't popped into your mind, but make sense anyway...

    SO DEFINITELY : THE QUESTION

    by the way: good question!

If you fully understand the question, you are already close to your answer.

A man who knows nothing of teaching decides to be the world's greatest teacher and does not know how. When he asks how, he probably does not know enough about what it means to teach.

The woman who is already an experienced teacher already knows much of the answer when she asks the question.

    -------------

Most important questions have more than one answer. Most important goals can be reached by more than one route.

A clear understanding of the question will let you know when you are near something that answers that question.

If you do not understand the question, when the answer is found you will not understand it and you will not know whether or not it answered the question.

Which is more important to you, your question or my answer? Depends on each person's point of view. I like a question which poses a query of specific relevance. Not all questions are of valid worth, just read the questions posted in this forum. If a question is invalid, then the answer is not worth much either.

The answer. Questions can be generated by the millions... but answers, especially correct ones, can be difficult to get and therefore are more rare. An important question might just be "Why?" I'd really like to know the answer to that one!

Since this question is under "philosophy" I will assume you mean philosophical questions...and I think those are more important than the answers, because they make you think. Individuals will come up with different answers, but hopefully, while pondering, they will also see things from others' points of view.

i think it is the question that is most important because without, there would be no answer...and besides, some people show more wisdom when asking a question than when answering, because you could just answer with any combination of words, but to ask a question, you must choose your words carefully so that the answerer can understand

I think the answer is more important. Let's do the numbers....

When you ask a question, you loose 5 points.

When someone answers your question, they get 2 points. Since a great deal of people can answer your question, the amount of points gained versus points lost is an acceptable ratio.

Thinking about haw many points you are offering others at a sacrafice to yourself is heart warming. Bless you Bogart.

It all depends, some question get a person,to look deeper into themselves, and question issues, and problems, and their beliefs, which can be a good thing, and some one who asks a question, just might get an answer that could change thier life for the better,as the answer might get them,to really question themself.

There is never a dumb question, only the ones you do not ask. If you do not ask, you do not learn. The answer is important for this process.
