I for one would rather think that the sooner we put 9/11 behind us the better it would be.The event has assumed the proportion of too big a national issue with sentiments arising sometimes out of prportion. The almost general feeling of anger has been tansformed into a general hatred for the Muslims as could be seen in the increasing instances of targetting the overtly Muslim persons. In distant India the assasination of Mahatma Gandhi threatened to become such an emotive issue. They ddid not set aside it as a national mourning day but just a couple of minitues' silence all over India at 11.00 a.m.Otherwise old wounds would have reopened and had disturbed the healing process. Perhaps time alone is a remedy for such tragedies. We are much too nearer the tragedy and not capable to take a dispassionate view in order to ensure that there is no recurrency of it. In fact, as the day approaches the atmospher is rife with rumours of another imminent attack. The common Muslim goes in dire fear and perhaps the real terrorists must be laughing behind his moustache at seeing the discomfiture of ours. Let us put 9/11 behind us and take measures --not strategic--to reawaken the faith of fairplay among out Muslims here and elsewhere.

Yes, I agree with what you're saying and I believe that this has been done. We might not get the day off but I believe that it is now known as Patriot Day. But regardless of having a name for the day or having the day off, I think that each of us remembering where we were and how we felt on that day is a way we can all pay our respects to the victims, their families, and all Americans who were effected by Sept 11.

Yes, I believe you are right. Not to just have another holiday but because it would honor the memory of all those who died that day. I think it would be a wonderful remembrance!

if king george really cared about those people he would have done so already. he'll make the date of the iraq invasion a holiday before 9/11.
