Call the number for the microchip supplier. Usually either Homeagain or Avid. Number usually on the tag.

If you are not the listed owner, they may not give you the information.

The only info the vet gets from the chip when he reads it is a number. Then they call the company and tell them the number, and the company calls the owner. Scanning the chip alone does not tell you any more than the number.

When you call about microchip tell them that you are trying to find the owner and see that the dog gets back to the true owners.

You can take the dog to a shelter or to a vet office to have it scanned then the company, usually Home Again or Avid can be notified and the owner located.

Ninty-nine percent of all vets will scan and tell you the info on the micro-chip for FREE if they have a compatable reader. You can also try calling your local humane society, pound, and animal control to check if they have the wands.
