Hi there....sounds like your friend is anorexic, binge/purging type, which is the most dangerous. She is at a very low weight, with a BMI of only 16.2.

Is she in any kind of treatment? Have you tried talking with her? Here's an article for helping a friend or family member with an eating disorder: http://www.edreferral.com/helping_loved_ones.htm

I would encourage her to seek help. With those symptoms, she could easily be appropriate for inpatient treatment, but she may not be ready. Encourage her to get help at whatever level is comfortable for her. She really needs to be medically monitored and to have a therapist. If she's open to it (which I am guessing she isn't), a nutritionist and support group would be helpful too. She would also benefit from seeing a psychiatrist and being evaluated for medication.

Here are 2 links for ED info and treatment resources (therapists, nutritionists, inpatient facilities, etc.):

Good luck. I hope YOU have some support too!

Definitely have your friend get help right away. If you need others to help you get her that help (for instance, if she is always saying she's alright or just tired, or especially denying any eating disorders, than get the extra help from family / other friends. I hope your friend will get better.

Back in high school, a friend of mine told me that she was diagnosed with both eating disorders. So, although it may not necessarily be the case, it's possible your friend could also have both.

  • why are you so concerned, she's a big girl, if she wants to be a f&ck up, the let her.

tell her you are having a big slumber party then when she comes over have your parents and her parents there so there can be an intervention. have several pizzas ordered with lots of extra spegetti sauce, then pin her down and stuff her face.

call 911 so the police can cart her away and she wont' have time to puke.

    good times., good times.

    Sounds like both.

Your friend should seek medical help as both can be life threatening.

Your friend needs some serious help...help that you can not give her. You need to contact her parents and tell them what's going on. If she doens't get help, you'll be going to her funeral. Good luck...
