can the pope reside over a catholic marriage?

I'm curious as to wether or not one can have the pope reside over their marriage, or if he doesn't do that.

Yes, the Pope, like any bishop, can administer any of the sacraments.

Here is a story about a couple who were married by the Pope in 2000: http://www.archden.org/dcr/archive/20001018/200010...

    With love in Christ.

The pope most certainly can witness a Catholic marriage; any ordained priest or deacon can. I think the biggest reason that the pope doesn't do this is the fact that EVERYONE would want to pope to marry them. (Well, maybe not everyone, but you get the idea.)

The popes marry people, baptize people, celebrate eucharist, perform confirmations, ordain people and hear confessions. The pope is the successor to Peter's ministry. Peter's ministry is one of worship, proclaimation of the Gospel and prayer. What else would a pope do?

Oh, I'm sure he would love to marry as many as possible, but others may think that it would be beneath his position since Catholics consider him to be the Christ's Representative on Earth.

He is a priest, so yes, he is able to preside over a marriage.

    Do you mean "preside"?

Reside would mean he lives over your marriage.
