# solve for x?

4 + 7x = -x -10

if possible please show your work so I will be able to see how you did it

Relevance

4 + 7x = -X - 10

you have to get the like terms together

7x + x = - 10 - 4

8x = - 14

x = - 14 / 8 or -1.75

x = negative 14 divided by 8 OR in decimals negative 1.75.

4 + 7x + 10 = -x > 14 + 7x = -x

subtract 7x from both sides

14 = -x -7x > 14 = -8x

divide both sides by -8

x = 14/-8

• 4 + 7x = -x - 10

+ x +x <-- add x to both sides; you're left with -10 on the right side

4 + 8x = -10

-4 -4 <--subtract 4 from both sides

8x = -14

/8 /8 <-- divide by 8 to solve for x

x = -(14/8) or negative fourteen eighths

• 4 + 7x = -x-10

4 + 7x +x = -x +x -10

4 + 8x = -10

4 - 4 + 8x = -10 -4

8x = -14

8x divided by 8 = -14 divided by 8

• 4+7x=-x-10

or,

4 +10 = -x - 7x

or,

14 = -8x

or,

14/8 = -x

or,

x = -7/4

I won't give you "the" answer, but this is the step process. Isolate the variable (x) on one side, with anything else on the other. (Does not matter which side.) If "x" still has a coefficient (# in front of x), divide BOTH sides by that number. You should end up with: X=your answer

• 4+7x = -x-10

you take one x from both sides of the equasion:

4+6x = --10

minus and minus is a plus

4+6x = 10

6x = 10-4

6x = 6

x = 6:6

x = 1
