was jesus nailed to the cross and executed by the Roman authorities...or the Jews?

History is clear: the Roman govenor of Judea, with his centurion henchmen, was infamous for crucifixions. So why the ongoing controversy in some fundamentalist Christian circles?

The Roman Authorities executed Jesus according to Roman Law.

    Historical Fact.

Jews, gentiles, and every human in history are accomplices in the reason (need) for the execution of Jesus the Christ.

Our sins He atoned through His suffering , death, and resurrection.

Judea was a part of the Roman Empire. They didn't have the death penalty, at least not crucifixion, but the Empire did. It's analogous to American 'state' authorities in a certain western state recently having an especially notorious case tried in Federal court to make sure the guy was properly lynched. The Judean authorities couldn't crucify Jesus, they didn't have the authority. So they asked the Romans to do it for them. The Romans could have just said no, but to make a political point they agreed to do it. So both the Romans and the Judeans killed Jesus. The Romans actually did the deed, the Judeans asked them to. But do not blame modern Jews no more than modern Italians for this inhuman atrocity against justice and compassion. They weren't around back then. The Judeans are history, destroyed in the revolt in 70 AD and later revolts. Modern Jews are descended from the Jews living outside of Judea at that time. They are not at fault, no more than modern Italians are. Italy today is totally different since the barbarian invasions of the Dark Ages. There's been a lot of Tibur under the bridge. But people who drive drunk and spurt out racist curses at police officers are not good Christians.

The Romans Executed Jesus because the Jews lied and said Jesus was a criminal but when the Romans found out that He did no wrong they asked did they want to trade a real criminal for a innocent man the Jews said yes so finally they take Jesus to be Executed But I hope you know he did not stay dead

Yes, The Romans WERE in power at that time, however it was Jewish Priests that demanded that Christ be put to death for claiming to be the son of God. Since the population was over 90% Jewish, the Romans knew it was either listen or risk war. I personally do not understand the controversy against Jews that is still raging today since Christ himself was a Jew.

Historically, the Romans didn't seem to have a problem with Jesus; the Romans would have Loved a jesus who taught Peace and render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's.

The Jews Hated Jesus because he stepped on their religious traditonal laws. He condemned many Jewish so called God given laws and the proud jewish leaders wanted his head.

Gal 3;13 AND ACTS 5:30 SAYS A TREE. THEY OUGHT TO KNOW THEY WERE THERE. WAS YOU THERE?

ROMAN AUTHORITIES ASKED THE JEWS DO YOU WANT THIS MAN DEAD AND THEY SAID YES. SO THE JEWS ARE RESPONSIBLE. OKAY!

But the romans actually did it, the Romans were occupiers of that land and conquers. So they were under roman rule.

In other words couldn't have done it without them. So we are all responsible for it if we are responsible for our ancestors.

Where it says cross that was added later. The early copies never said cross. Only king james because he didn't know better.

historicaly it would make more sense for it to have been the Roman authorities. Jesus told people to give up earthly possesions and follow him...you cannot tax a person that has nothing and no desire to gain anything...so jesus was a tax liability to the roman empire...however few actual records reamin and none of the actual cursifiction other than the bible and that is a religious text and not an actual historical account.

with regard to the apple? unique sin became a sin of delight. Eve needed to be like God. with regard to the Crucifixion? The Romans carried out the execution. The Jews falsely accused Him. yet He forgave them for that. Jesus did come to maintain the worldwide, yet not something went incorrect. It became all prophesied interior the previous testomony.

Rawdeal is an idiot. If he would simply pick up a bible and read a couple of pages he would know that there was no airplane captains involved in Jesus' death (Pilot) is Pilate, moron.

The Jewish leaders feared Jesus's teachings, which in many ways were against the jewish faith. They wanted him killed and brought him in front of Pilate (see RawDeal). Pilate said he had done nothing to warrant death and sent him back to the Jews. The Jews sent Jesus to Herod, a Jew himself, and asked if he would kill Jesus. Herod too refused and sent him back to the Jews. The Jews sent Jesus back to Pilate (see RawDeal) who allowed the Jews to release one prisoner. They chose Barabas!

I hold no ill will toward the Jews. Jesus knew this was his fate. If it weren't for the Romans through demands of the Jews, killing Jesus, the world would not have its savior.
