Simple mathematical errors in Bible. Proves that Bible is not a word of God. See the example below.?

It is mentioned in the 2nd Kings, Chapter No.8, Verse No.26, it says that… ‘Ahezia… that Ahezia, he was 22 years old, when he began to reign.’ 2nd Chronicles, Chapter No. 22, Verse No. 2, says that… ‘He was 42 years old, when he began to reign. Was he 22 years old, or was he 42 years old? - Mathematical contradiction. Further more, in 2nd Chronicles, Chapter No. 21, Verse No. 20, it says that… ‘Joaram, the father of Ahezia, he reigned at the age of 32 - and he reigned for 8 years, and he died at the age of 40. Immediately… Ahezia became the next ruler at the age of 42. Father died at the age of 40 - Immediately son takes over, who is at the age of 42. How can a son, be two years older than the father?’ Believe me even... even in Hollywood film, you will not be able to produce it.

But in Hollywood you cannot even show a son, being two years older than the father. It cannot even be a miracle - Even in miracles; it is not possible – Impossible.

I can show many of such errors

Many of the answers above are belittling you, Shahid. Forget them. You have a valid point. If the Bible is the Word of God, it must be accurate in all these small details, and no one has come up with an explanation. I would like an explanation, too. I am not looking to debunk any religion; I just want to know the truth. Not 'truth' by assertion. ('God said it, I believe it and that settles it.') or 'truth' by dodging ('It's a mystery; you have to accept it on faith'), but something that a reasonable, intelligent person can grasp onto. I have found only one religion that comes close to this, but it also has loose ends. So I keep searching and questioning and being told I'm going to hell.

Calling someone spiritually inept is more like an act of desperation than like an explanation.

BTW, how did you get your name? I thought you had to be dead to be Shahid? That is a real question. I am not being frivolous or nasty.

Different people can be named by the same name.

He may have become king of the southern kingdom at a different time from when he became king of the northern kingdom.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Even if there is a small error, the Bible is still the Word of God and is useful for correction and teaching. Focus on letting Jesus change your life, not on trying to poke holes in something just because you can't believe in it.

Why are you so desperate to find what you believe are errors? What do you fear? Every time someone posts stuff like this, I go take the time to look it up, read it through, then answer back with what I feel is the obvious solution. But I'm not doing it this time.

You don't want the truth anyway. You fear it.

I'll tell you this much...in the Bible, often times "son" or "father" means descendant or ancestor....OR many times, offspring were named after their predecessors...

Don't fear the Word of God, my brother. Face it. Find peace and acceptance from God, through Jesus Christ who died for you. Don't live in fear of a religion that won't let you reconsider and convert under penalty of their punishment.

I'm not a christian so, i haven't read the bible. u r right, it is really impossible. a son older than his father!! it is some thing intresting, right?any way, the next time i go 2 my school's prayer room, I'll check it. i really luv solving this kind of historical contradictions. That's not the only error in mathematics, you know.

1 Kings 7:23 "And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from one brim to the other: [it was] round all about, and his height [was] five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about."

The ten cubits here would be the diameter. Then thirty cubits that encompassed it would be the circumference. By definition of the formula 'diameter X pi', the object the Bible mentions could not have been physically possible. According to the Bible, pi is 3.00, whereas pi is actually 3.14.......... and goes on for infinity.

I am sure that there are more such errors in bible.

And Shahid don't get discourged by the cold uncaring attitude of some of the people in here. As GOD has said he has sealed the hearts of the nonbelievers and some of them will never accept the truth.

First of all we claim divine inspiartion for the original manuscripts of the Bible, not the copies. As the texts of the manuscripts were copied, several transcriptional errors surfaced. Yes, there are a few examples, but none of these transcriptional errors are in the divinely inspired text of Scripture. Secondly, not one of these errors affect major doctrines located in the text. Therefore, this petty example, does no damage to the doctrine of infallibility.

    Similarly:

22:47 And they will bid thee hasten on the Doom, and Allah faileth not His promise, but lo! a Day with Allah is as a thousand years of what ye reckon.

32:5 He directeth the ordinance from the heaven unto the earth; then it ascendeth unto Him in a Day, whereof the measure is a thousand years of that ye reckon.

70:4 (Whereby) the angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day whereof the span is fifty thousand years.

    By the same rationale...

All this proves is that over the years, there have been a few small translation or copy errors as the Bible has been translated from its original Greek and Hebrew, and copied numerous times.
