Is there a permanent chemical reaction that changes the marker dye to transparent with the "eraser pen" and what chemicals are used?

Permanent markers contains strong dispersion bonds of lead and nitrates. There is a chemical reaction involved as the merker is used, which you know chemical reactions are irreversible.
