Melaleuca, The Wellness Company is an international manufacturer and marketer of unique health, home, and personal care products. Our company was founded in 1985, and our name is taken from Melaleuca Alternifolia that produces a naturally powerful essential oil. This oil is used in many of Melaleuca's health care, pharmaceutical, personal care, and home care products.
Since our founding, we also have developed almost 300 other products all using natural alternatives to grocery and drugstore brands, designed to help consumers live healthier lives. Our exceptional line of nutritional, home cleaning, and bath and body care products has enabled us to grow rapidly and be recognized as a leader in the wellness industry. Our corporate headquarters are in Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA, yet our influence extends around the world.
With more than 1,600 employees, Melaleuca is a dynamic and growing private company located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Throughout Melaleuca's 19 years the company has been fortunate to receive several significant awards, and be recognized for giving back to the community.
We're especially proud of the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration -- our annual tribute to our nation's fallen war heroes and veterans. We're also proud of the fact that national magazines, like Inc., and organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Boy Scouts of America, have honored us with their awards.
We don't believe in trying to win accolades. We do believe in good corporate citizenship, practiced on a long-term and consistent basis. We try to lead by example, and we're gratified when our efforts are noticed.

it is an Australian native tree, the oil distilled from the tree has great anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. WHO has recognised it uses. It has been known and used in Australia for 200 years by whites and far longer by the blacks.
Tea tree oil is a yellowish green-tinged essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odour. It is taken from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia which is native to the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. The oil is claimed to have beneficial cosmetic and medical properties (including antiseptic and antifungal action).
The term "tea tree oil" is somewhat of a misnomer since Melaleuca alternifolia is a paperbark rather than a tea tree (genus Leptospermum). Tea tree oil should also not be confused with tea oil, the sweetish seasoning and cooking oil from pressed seeds of the tea plant Camellia sinensis or the tea oil plant Camellia oleifera.
Tea tree oil has been recognized as a potent antiseptic in Australia anecdotally for much longer than there has been scientific evidence. However, recent studies support a role for tea tree oil in skin care and treatment of various ailments.
Tea tree oil is a known antifungal agent, effective in vitro against multiple dermatophytes found on the skin.In vivo, shampoo with 5% tea tree oil has been shown to be an effective treatment for dandruff due to Malassezia furfur, the most common cause of the condition.
Effectiveness of topical tea tree oil preparations for Candidiasis is supported by their ability to kill Candida in vitro.
In the treatment of moderate acne, topical application of 5% tea tree oil has shown an effect comparable to 5% benzoyl peroxide with less risk of adverse drug reaction, albeit with slower onset of action.
Tea-tree oil is also effective for treating bug bites, boils and minor wounds. It may cause less of a stinging sensation than some other antisepticsSource(s): http://www.tto.bcs.uwa.edu.au/
