how to make a portable bow press?

It really depends on the type of bow you have... split limbs, parallel limbs. it makes a difference. But I make my own(just for string and cable repair only) and its simple and cheap. Draw your bow back(be extremely careful) and let someone measure the distance from limb to limb and add one inch... I then get 2 pieces of dowel about 3 to 4 inches long make a cable or some type of rope double the strength of your bow pull and tie it to the center of the wood pieces...and you have a portable press...the way it works is draw the bow back and have someone put the wood inside the split part of the limbs and very easily let your bow down and the press holds the stress is off the string and cables.

hi there, bammer has a good idea, and it works well untill you have a broken string or cable.i use a heavy duty ratchet strap, cut down so it fits inside my limbs, put the hooks through the slots under your cams and use a piece of dowel big enough to fit inside the hooks to keep them from hitting the limb, then crank it up till you can do what needs be done ,,,, good hunting
