I have a coolant leak in a 1996 Olds Ciera that is in behind the thermostat body. Anyone help with this one?

You have to change either the gasket to the thermostat, or its called an O-ring that goes behind there. That piece needs replacing. Apparently someone had swapped in a new thermostat, and didn't get a new seal, or gasket, or worse yet they didn't tighten the bolts properly. Good luck.

actually, this can happen when the thermostat is stuck. the coolant has nowhere else to go sometimes. a new thermostat and gasket will solve it in any case.

don't use the liquid gasket, it won't be needed. make sure you do not over-tighten the bolts when you put it back on. most every leak in plumbing is due to over-tightening.
