I don't know of any home remedies. The vet can help you. If you don't get help, they can injure themselves scratching.

Tea tree oil is a bad idea as it is toxic so if the animal ingests it you will be spending more money at the vet than if you went to get treatment for the ear mites. And be careful of solutions made for dogs...a lot of those are toxic to cats also! A lot of the flea remedies nowadays like revolution also take care of mites, so I would give that a go rather than a herbal solution that may be detrimental.

I don't recommend a home remedy but I do know that Walmart sells an excellent tube medication for ear mites. Works great! Not very expensive either. Just follow the instructions on the box.

Mineral oil. You need to soak Q-tips in the oil, and then clean out the ears every other day for about three months. It takes a while, but it does work. Cheap too!!!! The ear canal is a 90 degree angle, so you can get the Q-tip down pretty far without causing harm.

The worst part is the cat will have greasy looking ears and head for a while!!!!!

Make sure the ears are left pretty wet with the oil.

For a good and lasting solution, go to the vet. He will give a 2-dose jabs for the mites, which will kill the mites in the ear canal, and also those lodged in the claws, head, ears and bedding.

If you use mineral oil or others, you will only kill the mites in the ear canal. And it may get reinfected from the mites on its claws and head etc.

My brother in law used to clean out his cats ears with a cue tip when they had ear mites. Just be careful of going in too deep and watch out for claws. (just in case your cat might be touchy)

I don't know of any home remedies. I took mine to the vet and he put some medication in them. Now that he's an indoor cat, no more problems with them.

you should take your cat to the vet, my cat had them twice, the first time I took her to a vet he gave me some drops and told me to come back in a few days, I think it was a week to check and clean the ear. the second time he used some drops and cleaned her ears on the spot I didn't like that, my kitty cried and and it hurt me, but she was ok the next day...

Please get help from the vet. If mites are left unattended, it can cause your cat to go stir crazy, cuz those little bugs are way down in their ear canal, constantly moving around... imagine how they must feel......... Get help ASAP!

mineral oil, the only tihng is you need to keep treating the oil will smother the existing mites, but won't kill the eggs. you will need to keep treating for several weeks; but remedy will work as long as you keep up with it.
