I do not blame you. After 30 minutes without being acknowledged, that should be expected. They could have seated you and gave you menus and brought ice water and offered you a beverage or appetizer if their was a long wait. Also, I think being open and honest goes a long way. If they were short staffed, having problems etc, they should say, there is a delay today because XXX and we apologize and hope to correct the problem soon. Would you mind waiting? Also, many places may offer a discount for your patience and inconvenience too. I would give them another try but if it continues to be an ongoing problem after a few attempts there, move on. Chances are that any restaurant will have days like that, but if it continues all the time they probably won't stay in business long. I say, give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a second chance.
