Yes, I have been to Albania. It's quite a culture shock. I stayed in a small town for part of my trip and it's such a different lifestyle. There are always children playing in the street, most people don't work, but sit around all day drinking coffee and arguing lol. It's quite a poor country and what I did find strange is that most of the houses in this town looked a mess from the outside, but lovely inside. People were reasonably friendly, but I wouldn't see I felt completely comfortable.
The capital city, Tirana is much more modern with lots of hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a big market and also some interesting landmarks and museums.
The landscape is absolutely breathtaking, it really is a beautiful country.
Take care : )
