Tuberculosis is a contagious disease that is spread through airbourne particles -- if you are near somebody who has active tuberculosis -- you are exposed, and are at risk for developing tuberculosis.

Most frequently, it's seen as a respiratory illness -- it makes breathing less than easy. It is, however, able to be isolated in certain wounds of individuals who have been exposed.

Tuberculosis is diagnosed first by a mantoux. It's an intradermal injection . . . (just below the skin) typically on the fore-arm. It doesn't really hurt, or anything. The injection is then "read" 48-72 hours later. The test is either positive or negative.

A positive test doesn't mean that you have active tuberculosis -- rather that you have, at one point or another, been exposed to tuberculosis (or, have a sensitivity to the injection).

If the test is positive, a chest x-ray is necessary to determine if tuberculosis is active. If, in fact, the tuberculosis is active in your body -- then treatment is indicated. It is a very treatable illness. While once called consumption because of the wasting effects it had upon the body, it isn't common to die of tuberculosis in the industrialized nations -- because treatment is readily available.

I imagine you are talking about Tuberculosis. Its a bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its completly curable provided you take regular medicine for recomonded duration. Becouse treatment last for around 6 months for non-complecated cases and longer for complecated cases, most patients drop out of treatment before completion. Subsequent treatment is more difficult and prolong. If resistance develop, it may become difficult to cure and the physician can keep it suppressed by more toxic medicine.

You mean tuberculosis. It's a disease of the lungs and is moderately contagious. It used to be easily curable, but in recent years it has become very drug resistent. It can still be cured, but it means staying on a strict drug regimen for at least 6 months...maybe more.

Its a lung disease also known as TB. There is no cure that I knowof yet. It is spread through the air by a person that has it when they cough. The test to see if you have it is simple and cheap, its an injection just under the skin on the arm and you look for a reaction within 24 hours.

tuberculosis, also called TB is an airbore disease you can pick up from anywhere you take a breath. Most people with TB have wet coughs and dont even know they have TB. it is most contracted in grocery stores. Well to lay in out it is a parysite build up in the lungs. Once you have an xray or skin test and test positive you can be treated but you will always test positive as a carrier. i dont know much more than that, but it is serious.

Just for information sake: A positive tb skin test means you ARE infected. It doesn't mean you are symptomatic. It doesn't mean you will ever be syptomatic. Basically, you may be infected and not have active disease. You will have to be treated with a minimum of two drugs for a period of 3-6 months, depending on whether or not the particular strain is drug resistant.
