Microsoft chose the name "360" to symbolize it's so-called "complete" power of video gaming, like how 360 degrees is a full circle, square, etc. Plus, it sounds cool, a lot better than 2. 360 is a lot more than 2.

I think it was a bad name choice really, when you go 360 degrees, you end up heading in the same direction, and although xbox was cool, it had much to change and MS acknowledged that. 360 is an improvement, but the name makes it sound as if it landed right back in the same rut.

MS should have stolen revolution as soon as Nintendo dropped it for Wii. Sounds cooler than 360 and means about the same thing since a revolution is a full turn.

Cause Xbox 2 sounds boring. 360 is a more everybody play feel.

Because 360 is HARDCORE all the way, full circle baby!! (can you feel the sarcasm?) Really, it's because they're trying to make up for something the system is lacking.
