The United Nations is only useless because of the powers given to the security council. The United States, England, France, Russia and China have a veto vote in which they could use anytime in order to stop action taken by the United Nations (like Chapter 7, hindering aggression by sanctions and then force) If these five countries are given this kind of power, of course the United Nations will be unable to operate according to its mission, to maintain international peace and security. The United Nations is a very important organization and if it was allowed to operate for the purposes it was created, it would be able to take action against aggressive nations accordingly. Because the Security Council would never give up the power of the veto (because than this means that they may have to fight a war for purposes of international peace that may not benefit them in some way) The United Nations will always have limited abilities.

United Nations is seem as a wonderful concept at the beginning stage in building a wonderful world. Too bad...a lot of nations failed in their duties in providing the UN with funds that is needed to make it work.

If anybody wanted to blame UN for what they cannot do...you have to criticise those countries that pomises but never pay up.

I think an organization that admits the likes of Sudan, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Syria, Algeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam to its "Commission on Human Rights" cannot be taken seriously.

    Who said it is useful?

All these days, it worked as a puppet in the hands of powerful countries. It is functioning as per the direction of these countries.

Yes because it never had true authority nor the power to back it.

Name one instance in which the UN did what it was supposed to do.
