    What is sin?

Does it mean women have to mourn their dead potential unborn babies every time they have a period?

Does a woman have to pray for forgiveness every time she has an orgasm, even tho it doesn't have anything to do with ovulating?

What if she ovulates and doesn't have sex during that time? Is she guilty of murder of potential children she could have had, if she had sex?

No, I don't think there is anything wrong with masturbating, unless you do it it public, like at the dinner table or in church. It actually is a sensible alternative to having sex with people you don't think would be good mommies and daddies. It is also an alternative to AIDS, abstinence, and frustration. Most healthy people do it at some time in their lives. Go for it!

And using contraceptives is SUPPOSED to PREVENT PREGNANCY, so if you want to be pregnant, don't use it. A woman could have about 20 children if she really worked at it. A man could have hundreds.

I think a "sin" is doing something dumb that you know hurts yourself /others and doing it anyway, just because you feel the urge: Reckless disregard for others or yourself.

What is your definition? If you are using some book or religious teaching as your standard, and you agree, then do what it says.

If you don't agree, and it doesn't make sense to you, READ a lot, think a lot, and come up with your own ideas, just as I have.

You can be a fine, lovely person without having a religion dictate to you what to think. And you can be a fine, lovely person and be a member of a relgion, too. Follow your own heart.

There are several types of sin, across different organized religions. They are capital, moral and venial, they can be material and formal, internal, they can be philosophical. Their conditions take into account knowledge, free will and grave matter. Then there is the degree of malice, gravity and specific and numeric distinction.

By the nature of your question, I am going to assume you are speaking of the Christian faith.

Masturbating and and sex for pleasure are Capital sins of LUST. And they are all the more so once one is aware that it is a sin. For example, a young person or heathens engaging in these activities who are unaware that they are sins are to a degree LESS sinful than a Chirstian who 'knows better' yet does it anyway.

Recently the vatican gave the green light on masturbation but as far as i know contraception is still a bit of a no-no. I reckon, though, as religion catches up with changes in social trends that may also change.

    Source(s): I think I read it in a newspaper.

I know a lot of churches say its wrong.... the LDS church says its a very bad sin.... I think its natural so how can it be bad.... believe me when your Husband ( or what ever) is gone for a month...... its better to masturbate than go looking somewhere ells... !!! I think your marriage ( or what ever ) is better off if its an ok thing with the two of you. Just take care of it and go on with your day......

  • masturbating is a normal part of life..so i would say no..as long as your doing it on your own and not with anyone. You have to get pleasure somehow.

As for contraceotives... I am required to take them do to medical reasons, not to prevent pregnancy. i don't feel as though I'm doing wrong. Now, if I yake advantage of that and decided to sleep with whomever than I would be wrong.

according to some religions yes its a sin to use contraceptives.

but for pro choices like me its no big deal.

as for masturbation its wrong, its not even religious question, its just having good manners/ettiquattes and dont masturbate.

Different religions have different takes on this. Catholics say that both are wrong. Many protestants think they are both okay in certain circumstances (i.e. masturbation is okay if you're not lusting after someone you're not married to, and it's not consuming your whole life).

Potential life occurs upon fertilization. Before it is simply eggs and sperm.

Flour , eggs, and milk do not become cake until the mix is right.

i think masturbation is a natural thing.. so i don't consider it a sin.
