Can anyone please tell me why Jason Newstead left Metallica?

I always though he had enough of that life, he'd been there done that (one of the best damn bassists I've ever heard).

I was surprised to see him on "Rockstar Supernova".

So did he had a fight with the rest of the Metallica members?

Would be much obliged if anyone can shed some light on this.

From what I heard in the music of their more recent records, the band was straying away from the heavier sounds and incorporating a "bluesy" feeling. Kirk was mainly influencing this, and it seemed that James and Lars were following suit.

I don't like any of their music past the black album from 1992, it all went out of the realm of metal after that for me into hard rock.

I understand it was creative differences. He wanted to go in a different direction, musically. Perhaps he felt his input was not being considered. I thought he was in another band after Metallica, wonder what when wrong there.
