    "Who can appear for this examination?

    Candidates who have scored at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in the Master's Degree examination in the following or related subjects are eligible to appear in the joint CSIR-UGC Test (NET): Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.

    A candidate who is appearing / has appeared in the final year of MSc or an equivalent examination may also apply.

    For JRF, the minimum age requirement is 19 years as on July 1st / December 1st of the year of this examination, the upper age limit is 28 years and the same is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped and female applicants.

    For Lectureship (Science), the minimum age is 19 years as on July 1st / December 1st of the year of this examination. No upper age limit is specified in this category."
