What is Charita Chen in 'Donnie Darko'?

What's the relevence of her in this movie? She's the larger girl who says 'Chut up!' and has a crush on Donnie. Is she an angel maybe? What is the point of her?

I'm not exactly sure what her place is in the movie, but my eyes always water when he grabs her face and tells her that one day it'll all change.

I guess he was like her in a way; he knew what it was like to be alone.

It's such a great film though and the soundtrack kicks a**.

i dont think shes an angel i think its jus a device to show donnies effect and more of his personality thro his stickin up for her and er attraction to him
