Why would Israel move into Lebanon?

Does this mean a full-scale war is imminent since they have crossed another country's borders?

Update:

I do know about the soldiers this morning, my question is more of a query about the quick and public decision to move into another country rather than possibly getting them back through some "Munich" style special forces way. Israel going at it with Lebanon would only seem to open the floodgates for anyone who might want to get a cheap shot in against Israel.

If Lebanon were to harbor people who attach Israel, then Isreal is allowed, under international law, to attach Lebanon.

"Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security."

Israel went into Lebanon to find two of their soldiers who where kidnamped by Hamas in a cross-border raid. Lebanon is controlled by a Hamas.

Define a full scale war. The Middle East has been fighting for thousands of years. In the last 40 years alone, people on both sides have died everyday through suicide bombs, firefights, missle strikes, etc, etc. This is the modern face of warfare; not the tanks and troop lines and fighter planes over a battlefield you see in movies about WWII. Modern warefare has become a "low level" burn that lasts for years and years and years. Make no mistake, a "low level burn" is still a war.

Because they are going after Lebanon-based militia who raided Israel and captured Israeli soldiers. Since Lebanon cannot control their own country, Israel is perfectly justified in pursuing the Hezbullshit militants, and executing every last one they find.

If countries fail to control their populations, other countries will do it for them.

The Holy War has something to do with it. If you are religious you may know about the Sanhedrin reestablishment in Israel.. This is written in scripture about the holy temple trying to be rebuilt. Me personally, the holy temple is from within, no known geographic temple is known. A full scale holy war is imminent, the scripture says, no one shall fight on holy ground and if they begin to cross into it.. Well whatchu think?

First of all, the two soldiers where kidnamped by Hezbollah, not Hamas.

Second of all, Hezbollah kidnamped the two soldiers because they want to exchange them with the Lebanese prisoners in Israel. and i think that Hezbollah have the right to do that.
