why are people lonely when they are among others?

like in a group where you might know everyone.

    Just because your part of a group doesn't mean the group is part of you. It can also be that a person that is in a group is on a different intellectual level than everyone else in the group and that can make you feel lonely when your not with your intelectual pers..........

    Because they are going through the motions by participating. Deep down inside there may be just one or two people in the group they really enjoy talking with and hanging out with.

    I think it's because some peolpe who become a part of a group tend to loose their identities. Completeness comes from within and not from affiliations.
