Question for evolutionists: If rotation of the earth took longer...?
If rotation of the earth took longer than 24 hours, temperature differences would be too great between night and day. If rotation period were shorter, atmospheric wind velocities would be too great.
Can you prove that this happened by change???
Tell me your thoughts.
OK, if you want to answer by question,I have a question for you,
Can you prove that there is not a Creator?
Prove me that there is no God.
general_zod...or who ever you are today...I did not think that you could actually answer to this question...well, but you do not seem to have any problem asking your questions at this category...how's that?
Well, everybody who asks me to prove that there is God...they cannot prove it other way around...so why I should prove anything..
bc_munkee....you do not have a problem yourself about taking unproven things...
I did not think you could actually offer an answer...wind is blowing your lips?
Intelligen Design scientists are open both natural and intelligent causes. They are not opposed to continued research into a natural explanation for the first life. They are simply observing that all known natural explanations fail, and all empirically detectable evidence points to an Intelligent Designer.
The DNA similarity between apes and people id often grossly exagerated. Genetic differences are actually vast, and all arguments from DNA similarity are known by geneticsts to be circular. As organic beeings we share a great deal of biochemical similarity to organic life- even to yeast!
The 2-4 % of genetic difference between man and ape is so vast that it could fill 40 large books.
No mater how much evolutionists try to downplay the testimony of fossils, the simple fact remains: The fossil record cries out resoundingly against evolution!

I'm supposed to answer a hypothetical science question in the religious section. Why?

Your question defies logic.
I cannot PROVE that "this happened by change". I can advise you that the rotational velocity is indeed shorter than 24 hours, so does that prove anything? One revolution of the earth takes 23 hours 56 minutes and 14 seconds.....so youre wrong about wind velocities.
Regarless, whats your point? That God must have created the Earth, since it happens to harbor life because its rotational time frame happens to coincide with the perfect temperatures for which life needs in order to evolve? I have two things to say to that:
1) Ockham's Razor - because something defies ordinary explanation, does not automaticallyt mean that there is a supernatural explanation.
2) can you PROVE to me that God created earth? Where is your PHYSICAL PROOF? I dont want to hear that it says so in the Bible...it also says women are property and slavery is okay. Id also like to point out that your Bible has many stories in it that are not contained in the original copies of the manuscripts that are being found - so what does that say about the Bible?? It has invented parables in it that are attributed to Jesus' spoken word, yet are not contained in original copies...
Explain away oh holier-than-thou Christian.

I'm not sure where you came up with your conclusions about temperature differences. Does the bible address that? No, it doesn't. Science does, but you don't believe in science. The rotation of the earth is slower every year, scientist measure it. Its because of friction of the tides. It doesn't happen by chance (I assume you meant chance when you said change). They can tell how much the earth's rotation slows every year, and extrapolate back into time to estimate how much shorter days were thousands of years ago.
As far as proving there is no god, that's impossible, since "god" has no properties. Everytime science explains a new mystery, the religiously bent people redefine god.
You can't prove I can't make monkeys fly out of my butt.

Regarding existing things being probable or not, is a scientific proposition in the sense it can be tested, or at least debated, by various scientific means.
The statement, what this implies there is a "God" isn't really a scientific statement but rather is a philosophical one.
"God" did indeed came from the mind of man.
(For those of you who don't know how to use dictionaries)
divinity.... The state or quality of being divine.
(Notice capital letter "D" here)
Divinity The godhead; God. Used with the.
A deity, such as a god or goddess.
The key to divinity is the mind, infinitely complex and ultimately free. An open mind can unlock doors to infinite possibilities. It is our own divinity that is the key to our own existence. Opening the mind to different perspectives is a means to understanding things that may otherwise seem impossible. Without a means to understand ourselves through conscious thought, there is no point in humanity, and without a means for the universe to understand itself, there is no point in the universe.
divinty.... is not superiority. its' not about the creator, but the creatED, and the wonders that every second is made, not JUST by the divine, but by US. you and me.
I can accept divinity, in so far as, the assertion that we ARE ALL co-creators.
We are in fact the universe struggling to understand itself.

And if the Earth took longer than 365 1/4 days to rotate around the sun I wouldn't be 25 years old.
What's your point?

we evolved to fit our environment, it's no coincidence this planet suits us perfectly, we grew into it. If the environment were different, we would have evolved differently. If there was more gravity, we would have more muscles, if there was less gravity we would have larger bodies and more mass. If there was not an atmosphere, we wouldn't have ears (sound does not travel in a vacuum). If the radiation from the sun was different our eyes would see in different wavelenghts. Feel free to open your mind a little and consider alternative points of view.

first off it is 'by chance'. second there is no proof that your theories hold any water. Why do you think circumstance is proof of God? Is the fact that oxygen easily pairs with two hydrogen atoms proof of God as well? We can't live without water either. This is just ridiculous.

Temperature differences would be too great for what? Atmospheric wind velocities would be too great for what?
What's your basis of comparison? Evolution would have adjusted us accordingly to adapt to these conditions, of course.

If the earth were not how it is, things would be different obviously. It's only because you assign purpose to the way things are that you then conclude there must be a purpose giver.

Your DNA is 97% similar to that of a mouse, and 99.7% similar to a chimpanzee.
Did this happen by chance?
