Who believes that the definition of marriage is Gen 2.18-2.24 and not homosexual unions?
After G-d saw fit that man needed a helper and created woman (v18-23) then v.24 "Hence a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, so that they become one flesh."
For those of you who might be interested and/or unaware there was a man who was arrested over this issue in Massachusetts. See : http://www.article8.org/docs/news_events/parker/ma...
For the record... I am Jewish.

God said it.
I believe it!
That settles it!
...and if man's definition changes, God's Truth still stands! In the end, He will judge!

If you are going to believe that is what that means then you might as well believe that women should never speak in church and that no race should ever mix among various other things. The bible was written in a time when there was no Gay rights, when no one really understood it and definitely didn't accept it. It was custom for a man to marry a woman and only a woman so there was no reason for them to refer to the joining of two men or two women because people were too afraid to try. The bible catered to the people of the time, it was something that they had to relate to and understand. Women at that time (mainly due to religious beliefs) were less than man so they were to treat their husbands as their master and not to speak in church rather to ask their husbands for the answers. Same as you were not to marry someone from a different area (race) as they generally had a different religion but now many Christians marry atheists so is that a sin as well? What about the Christians that marry out of their race? Or even better...the woman preachers? Are they all disobeying god?

Marriage is a religious union. The government has no right to rule one way or the other. Marriage is what the CHURCH says that it is, not the Feds. As a matter of fact, I am surprised that no one has sued the Government for violation of 1st amendments establishment clause. The fact that you have to register your marriage, you have to file as single or married on tax returns, and that there are ANY laws regarding marriage is a violation of the first amendment. Marriage is a ceremony preformed by an established RELIGIOUS LEADER. This is a religious statement and the Feds have no business saying who can or cannot get married, or even know if they are married. The Churches are the only ones that should decide.

Boy, what did all those people do, before marriage was defined by King James.
People are going to go on doing what people do, whether they pass a constitutional amendment or. The only thing the amendment will do is create government sanctioned discrimination as far as retirement benefits, taxes, health benefits, etc.

Separation of church and state please!!!
Your religious beliefs have no place in American laws.
Keep the bible away from all marriage rights & rights in general. You are lucky you are allow to practice your religion in America, now stop forcing it on everyone else.
I just want the same rights for everyone.
Love is love is love.
Aren't Christians supposed to love others, be non-judgemental, accept people, and make peace?
Act like a Christian or stop calling yourself a Christian.

Allah, may his name be praised, has forbidden homosexuality as a perversion and a blight upon the face of the earth. Homosexuals are Satan's warriors in the war against the Faithful.

I think most people agree with you in this. Homosexuality goes against God's standards for marriage and the marriage union. But dwelling on the matter causes hate to surface. Hate is also against God's plans for man. We are all given free will to choose whom we wish to serve. The truth is homosexuality is revolting but no worse than rape, child molesting, child rape Pornography etc. It is the out come that is awful to consider. I feel for those that dabble in any sin and can't see it as sin. By making the choice to hang on to any sin known to us we are snatching away our free gift of eternal life.
It is our duties as Christians to pray for these poor souls and invite God and His angels to work extra hard in fight for their souls

Well, if it says it in a book that has no doubt been changed by radical fanatic rulers throughout the centuries, then by all means it has to be right!
Quoting the bible in reference to todays fight for gay marriages is a bit ridiculous. As far as I know..back then.. there were no survivor benefits, healthcare..etc We all know thats what this fight is truly about.Source(s): Common Sense

The Bible also states that we should follow man's laws here on earth. If the law makers change that definition, nothing else matters here on earth. If you believe that it is morally wrong, don't participate, and you won't be effected.

The Bible outlines alot of cute stories that were a great guide to many of that time. But it still remains mad mostly of ideas of the church-read:no God involved
