oh a good question. The hummingbird does not rest. It has such a fast metabolism (as indicated by it's extreme heartbeat and wing movement) that if they go more than two hours without food they would die. That is why they cannot sit still.

In sweet trees...the nests are very very small and hard to see. Generally to find the nest you would have to follow the female back to it, and sometimes that is a long way away.

side note: hummingbirds dont always have a nest. when not breeding, they overnight through a state known as 'torpor', which is somewhat like hibernation where their bodily functions slow to a crawl. since they require vast amounts of energy to survive, they would starve to death if they slept.

I only found 1 nest before as a kid,I believe it was in a shrub.they make their nest with spider webs,in a tear drop shape.

tree, bushes...just about anywhere.
