Is there such thing as the right religion?

First of I would like serious answers only please. And please refrain from bashing my or anyones point of view. I'm just seeking information and would like to learn from everyones theories and their point of view in a mature discussion.

Is there such thing as the right religion? If you pick the wrong one will you be punished in the end? Or do you believe that accepting Christ is enough to get to be saved?

Yes, there is a "right" religion for you.

The religion that is "right" for you is this, that matches most with your heart, with your feelings and with your background.

All religions are a way to "god". It just shows different pathes.

Normally we get educated as Christians, so we refer to Christianity... this can be a good way, a good start, but when we grow, our horizon gets bigger, and we feel more and see more. maybe we get attracted to other religions. this is okay,- very okay.

but i maybe want to mention a word of caution,- caution is often good,- be aware and be alert, do not get to sects (they are sadly in nearly all religions). but if you have a strong connection to your heart, it will tell you the truth about the situations at the speed of thought.

yes, while I am talking, i recognize, that your heart can be a good guide in your "quest". so center in your heart, let love flow out, take a ride on the wave of love that flows out of your heart, and you will "surf" to the right religion!.

Much success and joy and happiness on your journey.

sorry, i did not answer your second question:

The religion is right, that deals with love, instead of preaching it...

The religion is right, that deals with humanity and understanding

The religion is right, that deals with listening instead of making fear...

    to be endless continued....

No, you will not get punished,- you will get different experiences and have different know how, to work on with later. there is no fear.

believing in christ is sadly not enough. you have to believe in your SELF, in your heart, in your "right" desiciouns. you must work, constantly on becoming a better "human". Religion shall help, to spread your wings and fly to god, not cut your wings and set you in a cage of doctrins...

Be alert, Be aware, God is with you. Love.

there are only two choices....(1) All religion's are wrong and all people are destined to either heaven/hell/nowhere regardless of belief/actions or (2) One religion is correct and all others are wrong.

Many, if not all, religions claim to be infallible and the only true path eg. Christians believe that Muslims are going to hell and Muslims believe Christians are going to hell.

If you are serious and really want my opinion, I am a Christian,Why? what do I base it on?

Well, The Jewish faith proclaims that there is a Messiah (a Savior) coming based on their scriptures....this "Messiah" is a very detailed person...His coming was foretold thousands of years before his birth. The time of his birth, His ancestors, so many different aspects are foretold.

I don't expect you to take my word for it....but I promise, if you have an open mind and research it...you will find PROOF...beyond question that Jesus is the messiah.

    http://www.messiahrevealed.org/

These links contain some proof but...don't take my or their word for anything...read the Bible for yourself. And if I had questions I would read "The Case for Christ" I'll even buy you a Bible and a copy of "The Case For Christ" if you'd like

    Hope this Helps

This may seem silly but please bare with me ...

In practice religions work something like this ...

Religion number 1: Really the answer to your problem is a paper dollar. You know, you can fold it and it's lightweight. It gives you some spending power. Really a paper dollar is great.

Religion number 2: A paper dollar? Well no friend, let us not be found holding something so flimsy! What is needed is something that has some substance to it. Four quarters is what is needed. Sure, when you have four quarters in your hand you know you've really got a hold of something. Those pretty silver orbs are durable, and really, what you want is something that's going to last.

Religion number 3: A paper dollar? Four quarters? Can't you people think any bigger than that?! Don't you want much more out of life?! The answer to our problem has to be a hundred pennies. Talk about having something! You can barely hold them all! He who holds a hundred pennies is a man who has been truly blessed.

And many religions go on in this very fashion. Everyone claiming to have something better, something different. Indeed on the surface it may appear somewhat different but in the end it always adds up to the same thing, a buck. Now that's not very much spending power.

This is how it works in reallity. All religions, for the most part, are trying to deal with the harm that an individual causes them self and others and replace that harm with something that will build up, something many call love. This essentially is true of Hindus, Budists, Christians, and Humanists.

I think of it this way. If you have a Humanist who says there is no God and tries to do good and ends up continually failing (ie sinning ... causing harm to ones self or antother) and then if you have a Christian who claims there is a God and they too try to do good but end up sinning you have a situation where things may look different on the surface but they add up to the same thing. A buck.

What we all need is something that will add up to more than a buck, something that will give us more power than all the other philosophies that endeavor to do good but end up with individuals unable to stop harming one another.

Jesus talked with reliogous people of His time who thought they had the one right religion ...

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Many people, including those who claim to be Christians will claim they are free, just like these religous people, so Jesus goes on to tell them what bondage is and reveals the experience that gives you more spending power than just a buck ...

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Bondage, the undersired servanthood, is identified in a person who sins. What is needed is a religion that can make it so a person, in this life, has the power and walks in the power to stop sinning. Jesus said only the truth will bring this. No philosophy or religion that is not true can bring this. This is how you will know the truth, the true religion, it will set people free from being enslaved to sin (and I'm not just talking about some intangable freedom that we can't see, I'm talking about something that is seen and is provable). Many do not have this, however this is available to all.

That's how I believe you can tell the true from the false. If you are interested in talking further about this please email me at scott_bacon@hotmail.com

    May the Lord bless

I respect any religion that believes in a higher being, whether it be christianity, catholicism, judaism, budhism, etc. Even those religions I disagree with at least have some sort of framework or guidance in their lives, which I can respect. What I cannot acknowledge are those religions in which there is no religion such as atheism. Right or wrong religion, I don't think so, right or wrong to have a religion, definitely! Believe that we are not just a coincidence...

This is a very good question. I am sure most people would say that their religion is the right religion. I can honestly say that I believe that there is one God. I don't know for sure if there is a right religion. I truly think that your mind and soul will be in the same place (no conflict) when you do discover whatever religion you follow. You will not have to wonder if you are in the right place spiritually.

Jesus said "In my Fathers house there are many mansions". There are many ways to God, and whatever is comfortable for you is right for you. Don't worry about what religion you are. What is more important is how you live your life. Jesus said "Love one another as I have loved you" and "Judge not lest ye be judged". I don't think you need to take Jesus into your heart or you won't go to heaven. I don't know who thought that one up but God loves every creature . If you believe that He only loves one type of person that might just keep you out of heaven. Do the best you can and be kind. Good luck in your searching.

What is right, is what is on your heart. Your relationship with Jesus starts with you. Then you go and fellowship with other believers. Go to different churches until you find the one that seems right to you. If they believe in Jesus as much as you do, in a way that you are most comfortable with, then you will feel right at home. The Bible does speak of the importance of fellowship, hence the reason for churches. You will find a sanctuary of peace that the world cannot control. You will be thankful for that, when turmoil seems to be all around you.

Yes, I believe that there can only be one 100% right religion. However, I do not believe that a person will be punished for not belonging to it, unless he/she intentionally picks or creates a wrong religion. Example: satanism

Religions are created to meet a need, but when that need goes away, the religion continues on, so no religion is perfect. This does not mean we should live without the comfort religions bring us, it just means that we cannot claim our religion fits everybody elses needs.

  • Yes. to my belief, and to my credo doctrine and philosophy the catholic religion is the right and through religion of Jesus Christ. roman and apostolic, because they do a services in his memory and they prey to God, for forgiveness, and they don't forget each and all the saints mention in the Bible.
