Do you agree that the media is killing us in Iraq (or any conflict)?

The enemy watches our programs, listens to our radios, READS BLOGS ON THE INTERNET!

Iraq's arsenal of weapons of mass destruction was not captured by US forces who heroically brought down Saddam Hussein's regime three years ago this week. It vanished before they arrived.

Israeli intelligence reported before the US-led invasion that starting in late summer 2002 Saddam's WMD arsenal was shipped by truck convoy to Syria. Recently, documents seized from Iraq after the fall of the regime were released to the public. Those documents revealed that under the direct command of former Russian prime minister and KGB boss Yevgeny Primakov, Russian Spetnaz forces oversaw the transfer of Iraq's WMD to Syria ahead of the US-led invasion. These reports have been corroborated by Saddam's Air Vice Marshall General Georges Sada.

So rather than being destroyed or secured, Saddam's WMD arsenal was simply moved from one rogue regime with intimate ties to terror organizations to another rogue regime with intimate ties to terror organizations.

Of course, American Media will NOT report this, it will prove Bush right, and then they would look stupid.

    When News Lies

    WHEN NEWS LIES

Media Complicity and The Iraq War

By Danny Schechter, The News Dissector

A new book from Danny Schechter offers an up to date indictment of the role media played in promoting and misreporting the war on Iraq. It is an analysis of how and why the media got it wrong that pinpoints the failures of journalism and the collusion of media companies with the Bush Administration. The author of EMBEDDED: Weapons of Mass Deception (Prometheus 2003), an account of the TV coverage of the US invasion, returns with a more comprehensive, updated and insider look at the media complicity that Schechter argues "made the war possible."

"Most of the anti-war movement focused on the crimes of the Bush Administration ignoring the mainstream media, its far more effective accomplice," says former network producer Danny Schechter (ABC, CNN). "The government orchestrated the war while the media marketed it. You couldn't have one without the other."

WHEN NEWS LIES includes the feature -length DVD of the prize-winning film WMD (Weapons of Mass Deception). The book will also include the complete script as well as a discussion of the challenges of exposing media with media with a documentary. It chronicles the media war fought alongside the military campaign and the struggle to stand up for truth.

    YES!

The media sucks! The problem is that the purpose of the media is not to inform but to make money, and they make the most money by scaring people. Every time you watch the news they just try and scare you. I've gotten so sick of ABC/CBS/NBC Evening News because it's just a bunch of OMG IRAQ, OMG NORTH KOREA, OMG TERRORISTS, OMG GLOBAL WARMING, OMG GAS PRICES, OMOMGOGMOGMM. Very little information, and a lot of freaking out; what a waste of time. When you really think about it, very little of any of that stuff actually impacts you personally at all.

It's not just Iraq, it's everything! The media is screwed up, we need some kind of reform.

The shooting of 15 unarmed protesters who wanted the Marines to set up their command post somewhere other than their school in Fallujah caused the deaths of more soldiers than the media.

Most insurgents are Iraqi civilians. They get 1 hour of electricity every other day. They are not reading blogs and watching CNN. They are just pissed off that their lives are worse now than under Saddam. They knew how to stay out of Saddam's sights, but Americans don't know who to target, so they treat everyone as suspects.

MesquiteGal hit the nail on the head. The Media IS for the war! That's why they keep hamstringing the US forces by revealing tactics and other information that can be used by the terrorists. To do so guarantees that the United States will be at war longer since our tactics aren't as effective. Great point Mesquite!

I do think the media is killing us. They only report on things that will insight the insurgency. Here is a quick test that you can do to see how bad our media is. Tonight when you are watching the news, count how many times the media mentions Haditha, or any other hot topic that makes our military look bad, including the suicide bombings. Also count how many times they mention good things that our military is doing, like how many lifes our military saved from those suicide bombings. You will here how many were injured, but not how many people were saved. You will here about Haditha, but not about the hospitals, or the guys that are keeping the power on. Yes the media is killing us. The people are getting news from our media and angers them because they only hear about the bad things. Not the good, how many lives were saved today. I bet we don't hear about it.

Yes!!! They give way too much info out, like everyone in the country needs to know the commings & goings of EVERYTHING happening, when it's going 'to happen, where it's going to happen AND who it's going to happen to( and how). It only gives the enemy a heads up so they can counteract. That stuff needs to be discussed between strategists and people who are going to carry it out.

The ONLY thing bush has done right was when he took off the night zarkarwi(?) was hit, who got him and how was no business to any one! "loose lips sink ships"; they don't practice that rule too well anymore.(shame on them!!)

When they hit us it was a surprise, WHY?, Because they didn't announce it on the nightly news!!!! The Media needs to wake up and learn to keep their mouths shut when it comes to strategy of our defense and war tactics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes the media is exposing tactics used to track down the terrorist making it more difficult for our military and government to do their jobs. and because of this our troops are going to be in Iraq much longer. The media is one of the main problems.

Yes but they overstate it so badly I don't think they (Muslims) learn much from them. They probably learn more from the pictures.
