5-3 Limitation

The research has several limitations. The first limitation is about the weather. If the weather is too hot or too cold, the children will pay less attention in the class. Even when we play a game, some of them seem not willing to participate. As mentioned above, children’s emotion will affect their concentration and interest. The second limitation is about their seat. Due to the kindergarteners changes their seat frequently, the video tape is hard to tape our pupils in the film. Sometimes, we will lose their facial expression, gesture or non-verbal behavior in video screen. Luckily, our observers note this missing information on the paper. The machine also causes some problems in the class. When children found the video is taping, some of them will very exciting, the other will confusing and peep at the camera frequently. The third limitation is about their snack time. Due to the time we do the practice teaching is the time they eat dessert. Sometimes, when we start the class, they still haven’t finished it yet. So, it will affect their concentration span in the class. Due to the children in these young age has short concentration span, as the fourth limitation, they are easily affect by the people or voice outside. When there is a loud voice outside, the researchers as practice teachers will rise up their volume to attract their attention. The teaching experience of researchers will be the last limitation. This is the first time we teach in kindergarten. Our teaching skills, experiences and courses design is not mature. We still need to improve our teaching skills and experiences to handle the entire situation that happed in the class.

Even if we play games, some seem not willing to participate. As mentioned above, children’s emotion will affect their concentration and focus. The second limitation is their seating. Due to the frequent seat changes at the kindergarten, it is hard for the video camera to capture all pupils on tapes. Sometimes the camera missed their facial expressions, gestures or non-verbal behavior. Fortunately, our observers have noted this information on the paper. The camera also causes some problems in the class. When children realised that they are being filmed, some become very excited while others are confused and peep at the camera frequently. The third limitation is their snack time. Due to the overlapping of our practice teaching time with their snack time, the students are not concentrated in the begining of the class if they haven't finished their snacks. Children at this young age have particularly short attention and concentration spans, and it is essential to convey the ideas to them while their focus is still sharp. The short attention and concentration spans of those young children is also the fourth limitation. They are easily distracted by any person or noise outside. When there are loud noises outside, the researchers as student teachers will raise their voices fighting for their attention. The teaching experience of researchers will be the last limitation. This is our first time teaching at a kindergarten. Our teaching skills, experiences and courses design are not mature. We still need to improve our teaching skills and experiences in order to be able to handle any situation during the classes.
