Most people like to talk , but few people to listen , yet listening well is a rare talent that everyone should treasure. Because they hear more , good listeners tend to know more and to be more sensitive to what is going on around them most people. In addition, good listeners are inclined to accept or tolerate rather than to judge and criticize. Therefore, they have fewer enemies than most people. In fact, they are probably the most loved of people . On the contrary (相反地) 所以不合句意。 However , there are exceptions to that generality. For example, John Steinbeck , a famous American writer , is said to have been an excellent listener, yet he was hated by some of people he wrote about. No doubt his listening did not make him popular. Thus , depending on what a good listener does with what he hear, nevertheless he may pay a price for his talent or go unappreciated in his lifetime.

John Steinbeck , a famous American writer , is said to have been an excellent

listener, yet he was hated by some of people he wrote about.

還有是hated by some of the people he wrote of而非hated by some of people he wrote of

    以及what he hears而非what he hear
