She was a major hottie.

請問一下為什麼這句話的動詞用was而不用is

出自於\"愛情全壘打\"的對白

Update:

聽攏無~~

場景是一個小孩對一個大人說"She was a major hottie."

而那個女生跟他們才剛見過面,用 is 跟 was 的意思差別在哪?用was感覺好像她曾經很辣,現在不辣的意思

Update 2:

可是他們分開的時間不過一下下而已

還是說因為已經分開了所以用was感覺比較對?

那 She was a major hottie

I don't know what movie 愛情全壘打 is, but here is my answer to your question.

"Was" is the past tense of "be/is", which means something was true in the past, but not anymore. In this case "She was a major hottie", the reasons of it being a past tense sentence can be:

    1. She used to be a hottie but has since put on 100kgs, and is now all fat and old.

    2. She had passed away/died. (It's common to use past tense when you refer to someone who had passed away).

Source(s): me, myself and I, from a world down under
