The scientific name 'Tyrannosaurus Rex' means 'Tyrant lizard', or 'king dinosaur' It is the latest to appear, and the largest, strongest of all the carnivorous theropods. The T-Rex may be the largest land carnivore ever to grace the surface of the Earth. It became extinct 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous. The head of the T-Rex is exceptionally large (about 1.2m). Its powerful jaws have serrated teeth and its enormous, bird-like legs have powerful claws on them. In comparison to its thick legs, its arms seem very small by comparison, even smaller than the arms of a human. According to paleontologists, this may be due to the T-Rex only using its gaping mouth to hunt, thus causing the arms to become smaller and smaller due to lack of use, and also contributed to its two-legged gait. Although the T-Rex is enormous, its skeleton is hollow. Apart from that, its cranium has many large and hollow cavities, which lower its weight and allow it to walk and hunt. It is 14M long, 5M tall, and weighs 7 tons. The T-Rex has a long and thick tail, which looks like a strong and powerful weapon. This is probably due to it using its lower limbs and tail as the center of mass, thus we can deduce that the muscles of the tail are extremely strong, with the power of a tornado!

It is believed that the T-Rex is the most destructive of all carnivorous dinosaurs, when it appeared, the reign of dinosaurs was already reaching its end, about 65 million years ago. It is 14M long and its hind legs are extremely thick and strong, able to hold up a modern-day elephant each.

From fossils of the T-Rex, we can see that its teeth are all different-sized, some even longer than a human palm. the teeth have serrated edges from the tip to the root, which is proof of its ferocity. Its jaws are immensely strong, the power of ten full-grown crocodiles combined.

Its head is the largest and most powerful of all dinosaurs. This terrible carnivore will use its sabre-toothed jaws to kill its prey in one bite, and then twist its head to rip the meat off. Its cavernous mouth is even more terrifying, with two rows of in-curving sharp teeth, 20-30 cm long each.

Once bitten, even the heavily-armoured herbivores cannot survive.
The eyes of the T-Rex are similiar to that of birds of prey, with an extremely wide field of vision, and an even more acute sense of smell, leading to the theory that T-Rex was also a scavenger.

Also, the T-Rex must have had immensely powerful muscles to move its garguantuan skeleton, the muscles move the bones, producing motion to allow the limbs to bend and the tail to turn.

The T-Rex's legs combine the power and strength of the elephant's, and the speed of the ostrich. The T-Rex walks on its toes, like all theropods, and not with the sole. Estimates show that an attacking T-Rex has a speed of over 50 km/h, as fast as a charging white rhinoceros.
