Minimal pair :Two words in a language which differ from each other by only one distinctive sound(one PHONEME) and which also differ in meaning. For example, the English words bear and pear are a minimal pair as they differ in meaning and in their intial phonemes /b/ and /p/.
Phoneme：the smallest unit of sound in a language which can distinguish two words.
According to the definitions of phone and minimal pair, we can know that
phoneme is an important key element to distinguish two words.

這大概要回歸到phoneme的基本定義phoneme (音素) : A minimal unit that serves to distinguish between meanings of words.而利用最小配對( minimal pair)剛好是只有一個特徵不同(manner or placement or voicing or in Chinese ,tone)可以呈現不同的意思故知其為不同phonemes 例如: 地(ㄉ)球 vs. 汽(ㄑ)球三(ㄙ)元 vs. 山(ㄕ)猿
