2/. "By whom WERE the bottles thrown away?" or better yet, "The bottles were thrown away by whom?"

3/. "Was a car from Amy bought for him yesterday?" or "Was a car bought for him yesterday from Amy?"

4/. "It has BEEN a long time since they HAVE KNOWN each other."
