如：There are a lot of trees on each side of the street. （不能用every side)
On each (every) side of the square there were soldiers. 廣場的四周都是兵。
Each student has a pen in his hand. 每個學生人手一支筆。(形容詞作定語)也可說：Each of the students has a pen in his hand. (代詞作主語)
They each have two pens. 他們每人有兩支鋼筆。(作同位語)
Every student is here. =All the students are here. 所有的學生都出席了。
Every boy here likes playing football. = All the boys here like playing football.
從結構上來看：each是代詞可和介詞of連用，即：each of +名詞複數或代詞賓格，作主語時謂語動詞用第三人稱單數。如：
Each of the students has two pens. 每個學生有兩支鋼筆。
Each of them has two pens. 他們每人有兩支鋼筆。
而every是形容詞不可和介詞of連用。所以不可說：every of…但可說：everyone of…
