Jesse McCartney Biography:
The oldest of three children, Jesse McCartney was born April 9, 1987, in Irving, New York. Since his parents were involved in acting and singing, McCartney followed in their footsteps. He started performing when he was just 7 years old and later joined the New York-based musical group the Sugar Beats. Demonstrating his versatility, McCartney also pursued acting. After performing in a few theater productions (Oliver, The King and I, and A Christmas Carol), he landed his first television role on the soap opera All My Children in 1998.
But music was never far from the actor's mind. By the time he was 14 he earned a platinum album as a member of Dream Street, an opening act on Britney Spears' Onyx Hotel Tour. In 2002 the group split up, but McCartney pressed on. He contributed songs for the films A Cinderella Story, The Princess Diaries 2, Ella Enchanted, and the TV show That's So Raven. He also released his first solo album "Beautiful Soul."
In 2004 McCartney appeared on the short-lived WB series Summerland. He has received two Emmy nominations, two Young Artist Awards, and a nomination for a Soap Opera Digest Award. His hobbies include skiing, baseball, surfing, and photography.
Radio Disney fave Jesse McCartney was a child performer dynamo, singing on Broadway and landing an acting gig on All My Children before even joining his first boy band, a feat that came at the age of 12. Sugar poppers Dream Street scored a platinum album with their self-titled debut before spinning off the careers of Chris Trousdale and McCartney himself, who started contributing music to kid-friendly films like Cinderella Story ("The Best Day of My Life"), Stuck in the Suburbs ("Good Life"), and Ella Enchanted, for which he performed a version of Elton John's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" with Anne Hathaway, the film's star. McCartney returned to acting in 2004 with a role on the WB teen drama Summerland. He also finished up work on his first solo full-length. "Beautiful Soul" was the album's title track and lead single, and pointed to its smooth blend of pop-rock sensibilities punched up with soulful inflections and danceable beats. Beautiful Soul was issued September 28, 2004 by Hollywood Records. - Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
