    首先,請您先看所謂的minimal pair。這是指兩個字在發音上完全相同,除了在同一個位置有一個單音相異之外,例如:sink ←→ zinkbill ←→ gill但若相異的音超過一個以上,或相異的音在不同的位置,則非所謂的minimal pair。例如:seed [sid] ←→ soup [sup]可以發現,兩個字中相異的音已經超過一個,所以不能算是minimal pair。至於所謂的near-minimal pair,則是在找不到minimal pair時,退而求其次的替代物。在near minimal pair當中,每個單音都出現在同樣的語音環境,例如:assure ←→ azureauthor ←→ either 在找不到任何字可以和上表左邊的字形成minamal pair的情況下,右邊的字便被加以使用,構成near minimal pair,因為右邊單字中的單音排列環境,和左邊單字的單音排列環境是相同的。下面定義引述自O'Grady和Dobrovolsky(1996):Pairs that show segments in nearly identical environments are called near-minimal pairs.以上謹供您參考。phonetics, phonology, phonotactics, morphology, semantics, lexicology, syntax, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, neurolinguistics, discourse analysis....啊,要是這裡多一點人討論這些多好!參考資料:O'Grady, W. and M.
