    Thomas Nashe

    Spring

    Spring, the sweet Spring, is the year’s pleasant king;

    Then blooms each thing, then maids dance in a ring,

    Cold doth not sting, the pretty birds do sing,

    Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we to-witta-woo!

    The palm and may make country houses gay,

    Lambs frisk and play, the shepherds pipe all day,

    And we hear aye birds tune this merry lay,

    Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we to-witta-woo!

    The fields breathe sweet, the daisies kiss our feet,

    Young lovers meet, old wives a-sunning sit,

    In every street these tunes our ears do greet,

    Cuckoo, jug-jug, pu-we to-witta-woo!

    Spring! The sweet Spring!

    春,甘美之春,一年之中的堯舜,

    處處都有花樹,都有女兒環舞,

    微風但覺清和,佳禽爭著唱歌,

    啁啁,啾啾,哥哥,割麥﹑插一禾!

    榆柳呀山楂,打扮著田舍人家,

    羊羔嬉游,牧笛兒整天日價吹奏,

    百鳥總在和鳴,一片悠揚聲音,

    啁啁,啾啾,哥哥,割麥﹑插一禾!

    效原蕩漾香風,雛菊吻人腳踵,

    情侶作對成雙,老嫗坐曬陽光,

    走向任何通衢,都有歌聲悅耳,

    啁啁,啾啾,哥哥,割麥﹑插一禾!

    春!甘美之美!

    July

    Naught moves but clouds, and in the glassy lake

    Their doubles and the shadow of my boat.

    The boat itself stirs only when I break

    This drowse of heat and solitude afloat

    To prove if what I see be bird or mote,

    Or learn if yet the shore woods be awake.

    Long hours since dawn grew, -spread, -and passed on high

    And deep below, - I have watched the cool reeds hung

    Over images more cool in imaged sky;

    Nothing there was worth thinking of so long;

    All that the ring-doves say, far leaves among,

    Brims my mind with content thus still to lie.

    七月

    萬物寧謐,惟有流雲,晶瑩的湖泊,

    雲影緩移,浮泛著舟影。

    篇舟輕蕩,我用槳兒划破

    沈沈的炎熱,和迷離的寂寞,

    為了辨認:望見的是鳥抑或纖塵,

    為了探明:湖畔樹林是否蘇醒。

    晨曦早已微明----煙霧迷漫---飄向晴空

    又溶於碧波;我久久凝視泠泠的蘆葦

    影入雲天毿毿的水中,涼意更濃;

    在這悠悠的時光,物我兩忘

    遠處樹叢,斑尾鴿喁喁細語,

    我靜躺諦聽,恍惚置身仙境。

    The Pond

    Bright clouds of may

    Shade half the pond.

    Beyond,

    All but one bay

    Of emerald

    Tall reeds

    Like criss-cross bayonets

    Where a bird once called,

    Lies bright as the sun.

    No one heeds.

    The light wind frets

    And drifts the scum

    Of may-blossom.

    Toll the moorhen calls

    Again

    Naught ’s to be done

    By birds or men.

    Still the may falls.

    五月明麗的行雲

    浮影一半掩池塘。

    還方,

    惟海灣綠碧

    璀璨如艷陽;

    纖長的蘆葦

    彷彿刺刀交錯

    曾記否?有鳥兒啾囀。

    無人理會。

    微風吹拂

    五月鮮花蓓蕾

    落英繽紛。

    紅松雞啼叫

    二遍

    春易老

    無可奈何與鳥。

    五月悄悄去了。

    William Wordsworth

    To the cuckoo

    O blithe new-comer! I have heard,

    I hear thee and rejoice.

    O cuckoo! Shall I can thee bird,

    Or but a wandering voice?

    While I am lying on the grass

    They twofold shout I hear;

    From hill to hill it seems to pass

    At once far off, and near.

    Though babbling only to the vale,

    Of sunshine and of flowers,

    Thou bringest unto me a tale

    Of visionary hours.

    Thrice welcome, darling of the spring!

    Even yet thou art to me

    No bird, but an invisible thing,

    A voice, a mystery;

    The same whom in my schoolboy days

    I listened to; that Cry

    Which made me look a thousand ways

    In bush, and tree, and sky.

    To seek thee did I often rove

    Through woods and on the green;

    And thou wert still a hope, a love;

    Still longed for, never seen.

    And I can listen to thee yet;

    Can lie upon the plain

    And listen, till I do beget

    That golden time again.

    O blessed Bird! The earth we pace

    Again appears to be

    An unsubstantial, faery place;

    That is fit home for Thee!

    致布穀鳥

    啊,快樂的新客!

    聽到你囀鳴,我滿懷喜悅;

    啊!布穀,是否稱你鳥?

    或為妙音,迴盪清越?

    當我躺在草地上,

    聽到你的雙重唱:

    似從這山傳到那山,

    似在近旁,又在遠方。

    你的歌聲在山谷迴盪,

    伴著繁花和陽光;

    你還把我找到

    追憶往事的幻想。

    我刊三地歡迎

    你是陽光的先行。

    在我眼中,你不是鳥,

    而是無形的神奇之音。

    想當年我還是小學生,

    曾傾聽同樣的鳴聲;

    我千方百計尋找,

    從天上找到叢林。

    我時常漫遊,為了找你,

    踩著草地,穿過密林;

    如今仍在期待,雖不眼見,

    你仍是希望,是戀情。

    此刻我躺在平原,

    你的歌聲仍能聽見。

    我專心諦聽,

    直到招回金色的童年。

    我們棲息的大地

    又顯得空靈而神奇;

    這是你安家的富地,

    啊,快樂的鳥兒,祝福你!

    The Daffodils

    I wander’d lonely as a cloud

    That floats on high o’er vales and hills,

    When all at once I saw a crowd,

    A host, of golden daffodils;

    Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

    Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

    Continuous as the stars that shine

    And twinkle on the Milky Way,

    They stretch’d in never-ending line

    Along the margin of a bay:

    Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

    Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

    The waves beside them danced, but they

    Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

    A poet could not but be gay

    In such a jocund company!

    I gazed-and gazed-but little thought

    What wealth the show to me had brought:

    For oft, when on my couch I lie

    In vacant or in pensive mood,

    For old, unhappy, far-off things,

    And battles long ago;

    Or is it some more humble lay,

    Familiar matter of today?

    Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,

    That has been, and may be again?

    Whate’er the theme, the Maiden sang

    As if her song could have no ending;

    I saw her singing at her work,

    And o’er the sickle bending; ——

    I listen’d, motionless and still;

    And, as I mounted up the hill,

    The music in my heart I bore,

    Long after it was heard no more.

    水仙

    獨自漫遊似雲,

    青山翠綠谷上飄蕩;

    一剎那瞥見一叢叢﹑

    一簇簇水仙金黃;

    樹蔭下,明湖邊,

    和風吹拂舞翩躚。

    彷彿群星璀璨,

    沿銀河霎晶瑩;

    一灣碧波邊緣,

    綿延,望不盡;

    只見萬千無窮,

    隨風偃仰舞興濃。

    花邊波光瀲艷,

    怎比得繁花似錦;

    面對如此良伴,

    詩人怎不歡欣!

    凝視,凝視,流連不止;

    殊不知引起悠悠情思:

    兀自倚榻憩息,

    岑寂,幽然冥想;

    古老的﹑遙遠的悲歡離合,

    往昔年代的征戰?

    要麼是一支平凡的曲子,

    唱的是當今的尋常瑣事?

    常見的痛苦,失意,憂傷,

    歷來是如此,今後也一樣?

    這姑娘,不論唱的是什麼,

    彷彿能唱個沒完了;

    只見她一邊唱﹑一邊幹活,

    彎腰揮動著鐮刀;——

    我一動不動,悄悄聽著;

    直到我緩步登上山坡,

    那歌調早已寂無聲響,

    還在心悠悠回蕩。

    John Keats

    Daisy’s song

    The sun , with his great eye ,

    Sees not so much as I ;

    And the moon , all silver-proud .

    Might as well be in a cloud .

    And O the spring─the spring !

    I lead the life of a king !

    Couch’d in the leeming grass ,

    I spy each pretty lass .

    I look where no one dares ,

    And I stare where no one stares ,

    And when the night is nigh ,

    Lamb bleat my lullaby .

    雛菊之歌

    太陽,雖然睜大眼睛,

    遠不如我看得多而且清楚;

    那引以為傲的銀色的月亮,

    雲彩的勢力之下也一樣皎潔。

    哦,春天來了,春天來了,

    我就像帝王一樣逍遙!

    我躺在茂盛的青草上,

    偷看每個漂亮的女孩。

    我窺見別人所看不到之處,

    看他人不敢看的事物;

    而如果黑夜悄悄來了,

    羊群就咩咩對我唱起搖籃曲。
