It is actually from the PLAY "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams. It was later adapted into a movie, starring Marlon Brando, who made the line famous.

My absolute favorite movie of all time, "A Streetcar Named Desire." "I've always depended...on the kindness...of strangers.." Marlon Brando in his prime!
