The beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses have their foundation on God's word the Bible. The line of witnesses dates all the way back to Abel who is called the first witness according to Hebrews 11:4.

The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is not an order - it is a worldwide spiritual brotherhood of Christians with over 98,000 congregations. The head of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is Jesus Christ.

The founder of JW (The Watch Tower Society , was Charles Taze Russell, the first President. They had also used the name "Bible Students" and were called by such names as Russelites or Millennial Dawnites.

The movement began in or around 1919 in Germany as the Bible Students. Charles T. Russell was their leader. The original Bible Students Ecclesias were nothing like the Watchtower Society today. I don't know who the current head is.

  • It's Jehovah.

His name is Charles Taze Russell, then later Joseph F. Rutherford.

Not sure who is the head now.

Key point to remember~ The first men who interpreted the Scriptures for them, New World Translation, have NO education in Greek or Hebrew, ergo, cult.

Also, Jesus is not God to them, nor the Holy Spirit, they consider those scriptures as "erroneous"

They came back to my door four times before they quit because the 4th time they brought their leader and even she couldn't dispute what I had to say.

    Charles Taze Russell

Their teachings are based, not on the Bible, but the doctrines set by the Bible Tract Society. Hence the need for their own translation, The New World Translation.
