Is there one universal definition of "Friendship?"........or?

or do we all create our own definition depending on what we need in a friend ourselves? Is this sometimes the reason for conflicts with "friends?" Because out definition of what they mean to us is different from what we mean to them? And finally......are there certain responsibilities we hold as friends that acquaintances are exempt from?
