They were meant to be absolutely for reasons.

    1. Beauty since god created human in teh best shape to differentiate him among creatures.

    2. The eye-brows are to protect the eyes from the sweat and any chemical liquid that the body could produce.

    3. The eye-brows are very practical members for communication gestures as previously mentioned.

    4. Eye-lashes are of course protecting the eyes from dust and dirts that might be caused by outside environment.

    5. Eye-lashes are the beauty of the eye. As it was mentioned, god created human in a best shape.

Another important thing people are failing to mention (unless someone is also typing it as I, umm, type *lol*) Watch someone when you're talking to them. Not only do eyebrows protect, but they help communicate emotions between people. For instance, we all recognize "cocky" or "angry" eyebrows, right? Now eyelashes? They look nice, and they protect the eye. And I think that's all they do.
