new jogger, up to 4 miles now @ 5 times a week.....?

what next, and how do I find races I could try to run in?

    When you ask about "races" I'm assuming you mean longer distances, and not necessarily speed-related.

    5K and 10K runs for charity happen all over. Check your paper.

    Save the marathons for another couple months.

    Good job. I'd suggest doing a longer run once a week to improve your endurance. If you want to work on speed, make one of your runs an interval workout like 1 minute fast, 1 minute recovery, after you warm up, of course.

    For races, has a lot. Also is another good site.

    What next? Maintain your regimen, Improve your speed, your strides and breathing. Add other exercises.
