Binge eating is a result. What I mean is, binge eating is the outcome to a problem or issue.
Binge eating brings comfort during difficult times in our lives. As we try to deal with or not deal with issues in our lives, food gives us a moment in time not to have to deal with problems.
Over time, the food increases as we look for that same feeling of relief.
End result to handling problems, bad work days, family issues, etc, binge eating.
I truly feel that counseling and binge eating support groups are needed to help binge eaters because trying to heal oneself is difficult, time consuming, and painful and dealing with those types of feelings will bring on your binge eating which will bring on a cycle of:
1. Not feeling good about something
2. Eating to comfort self during this time.
3. Feeling bad about overeating and breaking a diet.
4. Eating again to comfort self because we feel bad about losing control.
