pitbulls are wonderful dogs. While they are very smart they are also very stubborn and need to know from the get go who is in charge. you need to know that potty training is a process. Never get upset with your dog for having an accident inside. It doesnt help. If you catch him/her in the act, a squirtbottle can be your best friend. If you dont catch him/her in the act rubbing their nose in it is not the way to go. They have no idea what you are trying to say to them. Make sure to clean it up as best as you can, ( hard surffaces use bleach if possible) and continue to train. know that it will probably be at least a few more months before your puppy has a bladder that can hold its urine for long periods of time, with that being said, its your responsibility to take him/her outside at least every hour or so while you are awake, and try puppy pads for while you are asleep or gone. The squirtbottle is a wonderful training tool in all areas. but never squirt your dog unless you CATCH him doing something that is not acceptable. Otherwise you lose all ground and the squirtbottle is teaching ant lessons. good luck with your pit. Like I said they are wonderful dogs. I have a pit mix, and he is my love. I have listened to Ceasar Millan ( another suggestion)the Dog Whisperer, and with his techniques i honestly feel like i have been blessed with the perfect dog. No Aggression, after 6 months hes never once had an accident in the house, ( one more thing, listen to your dog, he/she will tell you when its time to go potty you just have to pay attention) hes wonderful with all other dogs, shows them total respect, cats as well, treat very young and very old animals and humans very gently, shares his food, and will not touch mine even if I leave the room. He is perfect. He deserves every hug and kiss he gets. Here is Ceasars main rules for all dogs they need first exercise ,then discipline, then affection.. daily walks are very important.okay im done, but please check out Ceasar Millan, He has all the answers.
