Research the plant you have chosen to determine the colors on the light spectrum your particular plant utilizes most. Most plants use the entire spectrum, but red and blue are the most important. Find a location in your home to set your plants and install the lighting. Hang the bulbs the proper distance away from your specific type of plant.

Who care about saving power! if youre growing good pot you can sell it and make a decent profit to afford your electricity bill. what type of lights are you using? id suggest high pressure sodium bulbs, they work very nicely and doesn't use up your electric bill too much. Even Compact florescent lights will be energy efficient.

Grow lights need to be positioned directly above your plants, they also need to be placed just a few inches above the tallest leaves to be effective. If you want to save electricity, put them on a timer; it will turn them off after several hours.
