It depends on various other factors. It is a tough situation and I have to apply all my tactics, decency, diplomacy, decorum and dignity, while solving such issues. It requires some presence of mind. Nature will guide every individual, if they are honest and truthful. Honesty is the best policy. Truth alone triumphs ultimately.

He is the head of the department so it will be harder to get rid of him, so you'll need some really solid proof. Film his classes (I'm sure you can discreetly hide your phone while doing this), document incidents, dates, and details including what was said, who was involved, time, class, etc, and get lots of witnesses. Make sure your witnesses do the same thing (documentation, recordings). Also, ensure that the witnesses take the same notes because the documentation of the incidents should match everyone else's otherwise it will look fake. This way, with more proof, you have stronger evidence against him. I know it will be difficult to replace him, but the university will have to if it gets really bad. Also, you could do some online research, maybe stalk his Facebook or Twitter, look for racist posts, and save it to show the admin.

Another more extreme thing that you could do is to gather all of your evidence (it has to be really, really, strong, like a video with him clearly saying "ni*ger, ch*nk, etc" in class) and you could put it on youtube or even bring it to your local newsstation. You have to be careful with this cuz it could damage your reputation unless you do it anonymously. However, if the school receives a lot of bad publicity regarding the racist prof, they will have no choice but to remove him because no reputable school wants to be associated with that.

I would recommend trying the first suggestion before moving onto the second one. Use the last option if your school refuses to take action. Then you will have to take action into your own hands.

Aight gave you some pretty sound advice. However, if you have concerns, you don't necessarily need documentation or proof. Going to speak to the Dean is something that you can do without those things. Just be sure that you're letting them know that you have specific concerns that you feel need to be addressed. Perhaps, someone has already made a complaint and yours would be the corroborating voice that needs to be heard.

Call him out on it. The next time he makes a racist comment, ask him out loud in front of everyone
"What do you mean by that, exactly?" and see what he says.

If you can record it on audio, even better. If you can get video of it, even better still. See if at least one other student will back you up... And go to the Dean.

Tell the campus news bulletin, they need a nice interesting story anyway. Therefore no matter if ur prof is really racist or not, u can still troll him fir his unpleasant bhavior in the class.

Record what he says without him noticing it bring it to the police or local new place they'll find it interesting enough to do atleast something to get it out there that he is descriminating against certain people.
