No really easy way. Just remember when subtracting the top fraction must be higher than the bottom, if not you borrow 1 from the whole number in the form of denominator over denominator, like this:

    : 8 0/3

    -2 2/3

borrow 1 from the 8 in the form of 3/3 making it

    7 3/3

    -2 2/3

Then subtract the numbers in front, and the numerators only:

    5 1/3

    8 2/3

-2 0/3 no need to borrow, top is bigger, just subtract

    6 2/3

If the denominators are different you must change to equivalent fractions with the same denominator; like in

    2 7/16

+ 4/8 which if you multiply top & bottom by 2 is 8/16

    2 7/16

    + 8/16

    2 15/16

    1 4/5

    1 5/6

1 3/4 have a common denominator of 60 so multiply by 12/12, 10/10, and 15/15 in that order

    1 48/60

    1 50/60

    1 45/60

    3 143/60 which reduces to 5 23/60

    good luck

    1) 8 OK You have no fraction next to the 8, so lets

    - 2 2/3 make one.

    _______ 8 0/3

    - 2 2/3

    ___________

You can't take 2 from 0, so you go to the 8, borrow 1 and make it a 7. The 1 you borrowed turns into 3/3.

    Now we have, 73/3

    - 22/3

    ___________Answer= 5 1/3

    2) 82/3-2 = 8-2=6, bring down the 2/3, the answer is 6 2/3

    3)2 7/16

+ 4/8 Find the least common denominator which is 16.

    2 7/16

    8/16 = 2 and 15/16

    4) On this one find the lcd of 5,6,4 , add the new numerators, then add the whole numbers.

I hope this helps, it would be easier to do this with a piece of paper and a pencil!!!! ):

    8- 2 2/3

    1 = 3/3

    8-2=6

    6-2/3 = 5 1/3

    8 2/3 - 2

    =6 2/3

    (5/5=1) 1 4/5 =9/5 + 1 3/4 (4/4=1)

    9/5+7/4

find a common denominator in thsi case is 20

multiply 9 by 4 because you multiplied 5 by 4 to get 20 and for the others you get

    36/20 +28/20 = 64/20 (mixed number)

    now gimme 10 points
